Hello! My name is Rebekah Lane and this is my 20th year as a School Counselor in Manatee County (9th year at Williams). I received my undergraduate degree in Psychology at Gardner-Webb University in Boiling Springs, NC. I then went on to earn my Master's Degree in Education Counseling from the University of South Florida in Tampa, FL.
I love my job and enjoy working with students, teachers, parents, and community agencies to ensure that kids get the best education and aspire to be life-long learners.

I am so excited to be working with your students here at Williams Elementary and hope that you will contact me with any questions you may have. You are your child's best advocate!

What is an Elementary School Counselor?
The elementary school years set the foundation for developing the knowledge, attitudes and skills necessary for children to become healthy, competent and confident learners. Elementary school counselors have an impact on these years by implementing a school counseling program and collaborating with school staff, parents and the community to create a safe and respectful learning environment. By providing education, prevention, early identification and intervention, elementary school counselors help their students achieve academic success, develop an understanding of career opportunities and develop personal skills in response to issues they face. School counselors provide short-term solution focused counseling as it is related to school. School counselors may provide a referral for outside therapy based on need.
School Counselors design and deliver a comprehensive school counseling program that improves student outcomes based upon the American School Counseling Association (ASCA) National Model: define, deliver, manage, and assess.
